Before I had a morning routine, I would start my mornings by grabbing my phone and mindlessly scrolling through email, social media and whatever all-important notification was in front of me.
I felt that in order to be on top of things, that I had to dive into email, notifications and more from the minute I woke up. I started my days feeling rushed and anxious, with an immediate sense of urgency that I must attend to all of these emails, messages and notifications immediately or my life and business would get off track.
THIS COULDN'T BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH.
I lacked focus, calm and direction because I allowed myself to get pulled into whatever email landed in my inbox early in the morning. Deep down I knew that there was a better way for me to start my days, but I didn’t know HOW.
A mentor of mine suggested that I start meditating for 10 minutes a day. Me? Sit still and not ‘do’ anything for 10 whole minutes? I was so resistant and instantly came up with a number of excuses for why I couldn’t. My mentor looked at me sternly and asked "What, you can’t sit still and breathe for 10 short minutes?"
I COULDN'T ARGUE WITH THAT.
So began the creation of my morning routine, which has transformed my life in more ways than I can count.
